Following a two year course at the Cordwainers College in London Phil gained the much prized diploma in leather goods production. With over 25 years employment Phil has gained extensive experience in the manufacture of light leather goods and leather desk accessories for outlets such as Smythsons of Bond Street.
The Leather Man is Phil's own business and all Phils' goods are individually hand made using traditional tools, materials and techniques. The Leather Man has two specialist streams of business; recreating historical leather goods or commissions to meet customer design requirements for up-to-date leather products.
Phil is well known in historical re-enacting circles where his traditional leather drinking vessels, leather bottles, leather belt pouches, leather purses and leather belts are much sought after at historical fairs where absolute authenticity and accuracy are demanded.
Phils' reputation resulted in numerous bespoke commissions and he has been able to provide leather items for Shakespeare’s Globe, TV Productions and International movies such as: Camelot, Troy, King Arthur, The Worst Jobs in History, The Devil Wears Prada, Pirates of the Caribbean, Your Highness., and most recently Snow White and the Huntsman.
Modern leather goods such as Leather desk and office accessories can also be made. Leather dining table accessories such as menus, wine lists and place settings can incorporate personalised detailing in gold or blind blocking and these have been provided for restaurants, private yachts and stately homes.
Phil is always pleased to help and advice with your personal choices and design requirements.
